Connect a device to the network
Access your photos, files and services from a smartphone, tablet or personal computer. At home, it’s automatic; elsewhere, a secure little app bridges the gap.
Inside a zone
Section titled “Inside a zone”At home (or anywhere with a gateway), there’s virtually nothing to do:
- Connect the device to the WiFi or the zone’s internal network.
- You’re done. Addressing, Internet access (filtered, ad-free) and services are configured automatically.
- Open the zone’s homepage in your browser: all services are listed there.
A single identity
Section titled “A single identity”A single username unlocks all services (SSO). Log in once and find your access everywhere.
- Forgot your password? Ask your administrator to reset it.
- Mobile apps (photos, files, email): enter the service address provided by the administrator, then your usual username.
From outside
Section titled “From outside”Outside a zone, a secure application (Tailscale VPN client) connects your device to the network, as if you were at home.
- Install Tailscale on the device (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS, Linux).
- Log in to the server provided by your administrator.
- Wait for approval from the administrator: your device then joins the network and its services.
